Veggies!

Here's a peek at our only partially done vegetable garden. This is the area in our front yard, up against the neighbor's house (it's ok, because we own that house as a rental), that used to be nothing but dirt...

We (Mark) built two planting boxes and hung trellises for climbing veggies. Then we (Mark) built a little fence around it. Hey, I stained it!
That's our house on the left, and the arch through which you enter the garden is the arch we stood under during our wedding ceremony.
So far we've planted seeds of pole beans and cucumbers along each of the trellis lines, because they're climbers, summer squash seeds, a yellow bell pepper plant, and a poblano pepper plant.

These little flower buds are going to be poblano peppers!

We bought a few other packets of veggie seeds that need to be started indoors before being transplanted, which we haven't done yet. I'll show those in a separate post when we start them. We also had a couple of cute wooden planters, so we put strawberries in one and basil and parsley in the other...

And, on a whim while in the garden center, we bought one of those Topsy Turvy Tomato things, where the tomatoes grow down through the hanging container. It's supposed to grow the best tomatoes that the world has ever known, so we'll see.

So that's what we've done so far. We're going to start those other seeds and I'll let you know what works for us and what, if anything, is a colossal failure.
Have you had success planting any veggies?
