One of these things is not like the others...

How insanely disproportionate is the Desserts file compared to the other recipe categories!? Send help.

  2. I have had this great interest in cooking ever since my parents were here, so I could spend a whole day just typing down awesome things to cook and eat. However, this would bore everyone reading this page and therefore I will just share some:


    Marilyn's Mac and Cheese:

    Ingredients
    U.S. Metric Conversion chart
    2 cup(s) shell macaroni
    1/4 cup(s) grated sharp Cheddar cheese
    1/4 cup(s) grated Monterey Jack cheese
    1/4 cup(s) grated provolone cheese
    1/2 cup(s) sour cream
    1 can(s) (15-ounce) diced stewed tomatoes, drained
    1 tablespoon(s) unsalted butter
    2 teaspoon(s) fresh oregano


    Directions

    1.Preheat oven to 350°F. Cook macaroni according to package instructions, drain, and transfer to a 4-cup casserole dish. Stir in remaining ingredients and bake until bubbling, about 30 minutes.



    Ham and Potato Gratins

    Ingredients
    U.S. Metric Conversion chart
    2 1/2 tablespoon(s) unsalted butter, plus more for coating ramekins
    1 medium Vidalia onion, peeled and thinly sliced
    3/4 teaspoon(s) salt
    1/2 teaspoon(s) freshly ground pepper
    2 pound(s) Yukon gold potatoes, peeled and sliced as thinly as possible
    1 1/2 cup(s) leftover glazed ham, cubed
    1 1/4 cup(s) grated Gruyère cheese
    2 tablespoon(s) chopped fresh parsley
    1 1/2 cup(s) half-and-half

    Directions

    1.Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a medium skillet over medium-low heat. Add onion and 1/4 teaspoon each salt and pepper, and cook over low heat until onion is deep brown and translucent, about 25 minutes. Remove from heat and combine with potatoes, ham, cheese, parsley, and remaining salt and pepper.
    2.Lightly butter eight 1-cup ramekins, divide potato mixture among dishes, and pour 3 tablespoons half-and-half in each. Dot tops with remaining 1 1/2 tablespoons butter.
    3.Cover with foil and bake 30 minutes. Uncover and bake until potatoes are tender, 35 more minutes.

  4. I'm glad to hear I'm not alone! Clearly I've never met a cookie recipe that wasn't "must make." Thanks for the recipes Isabell! I'll definitely be trying both of them.
