I'm trying. I really am. I want to keep this blog updated, but there is NOTHING going on right now other than packing.
We picked up the keys to the new house yesterday, but the sellers will still be in there until next Monday. So in exactly one week we can start moving in! Meanwhile, we're buried in boxes. For someone who likes to purge things pretty regularly, I'm shocked by how much stuff we have.
Anyway, next week I can begin posting "before" pictures. Phase One as soon as we get in there is to sand and stain the hardwood floors throughout, paint the living room, dining room, hall and bedrooms, install crown moulding in the bedrooms, install wainscoting in the dining room, refinish the living room fireplace, build bookshelves for either side of fireplace, new front door and all new interior doors. That should keep us busy for awhile.
Oh, and I'm on-call for jury duty for the next two weeks. Isn't that awesome timing?

Can't Wait
I loved this book, and I can't wait to see the movie although I'm a little unsure about some of the casting choices. Mark Wahlberg? Did you see him in The Happening? Yikes.

Magical
How much do you want to jump into these pictures of a Midsummer Night's Dream theme party thrown by Bash Eco Events in L.A.?
I'm thinking I'm gonna have to try to recreate this atmosphere for a party once we're settled into our new house.

What the deuce
In looking at blog stats, it appears someone stumbled upon my blog by searching "girls with bifocals." Hmmm.

Dreaming
It's no secret that Summer is my least favorite season (maybe that will change now that we're going to have a pool), so now that August is here I'm already fantasizing about Fall and the holidays.
I'm starting to get the first Fall magazines and catalogs, and I squeal with delight when I open them and see the reds and oranges, the roaring fires in the fireplaces, the pumpkins on the porches and tables. October, November, and December are my favorite months with the decorations, and the parties, and the weather (not that we get the dramatic weather change in L.A. like in other parts of the country, but it's something).

I've been looking at images like these lately:
What's your favorite time of year?
